Arenal Volcano, in Spanish Volcán Arenal, is an active andesitic stratovolcano in north-western Costa Rica around 90 km northwest of San José, in the province ofAlajuela, canton of San Carlos, and district of La Fortuna. The Arenal volcano measures at least 1,633 metres (5,358 ft),^[2]. It is conically shaped with a crater spanning 140 metres (460 ft). Arenal is geologically considered a young volcano and the age is estimated to be less than 7,000 years.^[3] It is also known as “Pan de Azúcar”, “Canaste”, “Volcan Costa Rica”, “Volcan Río Frío” or “Guatusos Peak”.^[1]

The volcano was asleep for hundreds of years and exhibited a single crater at its summit, with minor fumaroles activity, covered by dense vegetation. In 1968 it had an eruption and destroyed the small town of Tabacón. Due to the eruption three more craters were created on the western flanks but only one of them still exists today.

Every years, May bring the first rain… after 5 months of dry it’s really appreciated.

Santa Teresa de Puntarenas was the fifth day of DayStar National Circuit in a day to remember with waves up to 4 meters in the most critical part of the set. In front of the Hotel Luz de Vida, was attended by 250 registered for the Quiksilver Cup start.

Best surfers of the country, good swell size, and a lot of people.

LUIS VINDAS. It was just the best of the appointment. Inspired and secure in his game, the jacoeño Luis Vindas won his second day of DayStar Circuit 2010 to dominate the Quiksilver Cup final from start to finish with a score of 15.90 in the waves of Santa Teresa de Cóbano, Puntarenas, with about 1,000 people and the best wave conditions so far this season.

23’s March we get the biggest swell of 2010 (at the moment)… first session on the reefs of the year and honestly the best condition ever in this point break! REALLY GOOD!
